    About Belize

    Overview

Belize, formally known as British Honduras, is a young country gaining its independence from Britain in 1981.   About the same size in land mass as Massachusetts, this Caribbean country has the smallest population in Central America, at about 400,000 people.

Belize entered the map for divers and fishermen in the early 80s and since has become a mecca for the everyday traveler looking for an easy Caribbean getaway.   Boasting balmy subtropical weather year-round, the coast and cayes average 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit year-round while the inland and mountain areas tend to be slightly cooler.

With an abundance of wildlife, marine life, and exploration opportunities including the Mayan Ruins, ATM caves, cave tubing and more, this country is quickly gaining traction as the place to be.
